We’ll all have our fingers firmly crossed as we try to go one better this time around, after being narrowly pipped to the post in the same category two years ago.
About the Awards
Widely recognised as the region’s most high profile business event, the Nottingham Post Business Awards have been established for more than 20 years. In 2013, the event was given a new lease of life when it was re-launched in partnership with leading event organisers, Champions (UK) plc.
This year, the awards will once again be hotly contested by some of the Nottingham business community’s most famous names. A total of 13 awards are up for grabs, culminating in the ultimate accolade: the 2014 Nottinghamshire Company of the Year.

Small Business of the Year Award
The Small Business Award is open to companies employing no more than 75 people, who can demonstrate a clear track record of success over the last 12 months. When considering our application, the judges will be looking at factors such as Air-IT’s contribution to the local economy and our future prospects for ongoing growth and development.
Our Managing Director, Todd McQuilkin, comments:
‘With over 30 entrants, the Small Business of the Year Award is a popular category and it’s a major achievement to be chosen as one of just three finalists.
Air-IT is a local company with a local client base, so Nottingham and its business community are extremely important to us. We’re proud of our Nottingham heritage and we’re always keen to support other local businesses as well as giving back to the wider community through our regular sponsorship activities.
It’s been a hugely successful year for Air-IT and it’s great to see our achievements being recognised.’
The Small Business of the Year Award is being sponsored by New College Nottingham, who shortlisted Air-IT as a finalist after visiting our offices to find out more about our business and to assess our application. The next stage is to film a video for our awards submission, before attending a Finalists’ and Sponsors’ Reception at Alea Casino on Wednesday 16th April, where we’ll have the chance to meet the sponsors and mingle with the other finalists.
The Awards Ceremony and Gala Dinner
The 2014 Nottingham Post Awards ceremony will take place at East Midlands Conference Centre on Thursday 1st May. Each of the finalists’ videos will be shown during the gala dinner before the awards are announced and presented to the winners of each category.
The evening will be hosted by the former Managing Director of BMI Baby, David Bryon, and specialist business presenter, Nadine Dereza, with entertainment provided by impressionist and comedian, Kevin Connelly.
‘It’s sure to be a fun and glamorous evening. After finishing as Runner-up in both the Small Business of the Year and Apprentice of the Year Awards in 2012, here’s hoping that 2014 will be our year.
Whatever the outcome, I’d like to thank everyone at Air-IT for their continued commitment and hard work. It’s all down to the efforts of our fantastic team that, once again, we’ve reached the final stages of these high-profile business awards.’
