We’re delighted to announce that Operations Manager, Simon Smith, is the winner of our very first Employees’ Employee of the Quarter Award.

Staff awards Air IT support

Winner Simon Smith, Operations Manager with Todd McQuilkin, MD

Simon was shortlisted for the award after winning the Most Valuable Contribution category in our Delivering Excellence Awards earlier this year.

Both sets of quarterly awards were recently introduced to recognise and reward team members who’ve gone above and beyond their call of duty.

Simon was also joined on the shortlist by four other members of staff including: John Davies, Jamie Hissitt, Andrew Madigan and Billi Martin – all selected for their outstanding achievements during the period.

Staff were then asked to vote for the person they felt had made the biggest contribution to company performance over the last quarter.

Celebrating Simon’s Success

After receiving the largest amount of votes by a landslide, Simon was announced as winner at our company meeting in September. And to celebrate his achievement he was presented with a certificate and a prize – a weekend away for two – by our MD, Todd McQuilkin.

Todd says:

I was delighted to present Simon with our first Employees’ Employee of the Quarter Award. His dual achievement in winning both this and the Delivering Excellence award is well deserved and recognises the phenomenal contribution that he has made to the company”.

Since joining us in November 2013, Simon has made a major impact on the business, fast-becoming an integral member of the management team.

Simon comments on his award:

‘I’m thrilled to receive the award, not least because it’s based on votes from colleagues. They’re a brilliant bunch of people, and getting a thumbs-up from them is an honour.

It’s so refreshing to be part of an organisation with both strength-of-vision and the determination to see it through. A big thank-you goes to everyone here. Success comes from us all.’

As Operations Manager, Simon, has played a key role in helping us implement new internal systems and infrastructure. This has radically transformed the way we work, vastly improving our efficiencies, automating many processes and enabling us to build the foundations for our next stages of growth.

Todd adds:

‘It’s a real testament to his abilities that both Senior Management and his peers are in full agreement that Simon should be winner of both awards. His dedication and commitment to go above and beyond his role have been unquestionable.

I’d like to join everyone at Air-IT and MBC in offering him our sincere congratulations and thanks for all the hard work.’

Looking Forward to our Next Awards

Nominations for our next set of quarterly awards are already underway and we’ll be announcing the three winners of our Delivering Excellence Awards at the end of November.

Winners will be shortlisted for the Employees’ Employee of the Quarter Award (Quarter 1 – 2014/15) along with other team members nominated by the management team, and staff will once again be asked to vote for their preferred winner.
