The annual Xmas lunch is a hugely popular event with the local business community and attracts a sell-out crowd every year.

About the 2014 Christmas Lunch

This year’s Christmas lunch saw more than 150 senior business people enjoying a range of social and fundraising activities, including a charity raffle which raised more than £1,000 for the Nottingham branch of Parkinson’s UK.

Air-IT were pleased to contribute one of the prizes: a round of golf for four at the Nottinghamshire Golf and Country Club.

After a full Christmas lunch with all the trimmings, everyone took part in a fun table quiz, which was won by our Sales Director, Simon Leadley’s, table. Then, it was time for this year’s high profile guest speaker to take to the stage.

This Year’s Guest Speaker: John Sergeant

Nottingham City Business Club is renowned for the high calibre of its guest speakers, with previous Christmas Lunch guests including Gyles Brandreth, Sally Gunnell and Kirsty Henshaw.

And 2014 was no exception, with veteran broadcaster and journalist, John Sergeant, booked to appear.

One of the most recognisable faces on British television, John has enjoyed a long and fascinating career in TV and radio. He has worked both for the BBC and ITN, initially as a reporter covering conflicts in many parts of the world, before settling down as a Political Correspondent and Editor.

John also took part in the 2008 series of the BBC TV programme, Strictly Come Dancing, where he and partner Kristina Rihanoff proved extremely popular with the voting audience – remaining in the competition until the 10th week despite consistently finishing in last place.

John is equally well known as a fantastic after-dinner speaker and enthralled the audience at the Christmas Lunch with tales of his experiences on Strictly Come Dancing and how his involvement with the show effectively relaunched his career in television.

We were also captivated by John’s stories about his first-hand experiences of working with key political figures such as Margaret Thatcher, Tony Blair and John Major – all highly entertaining and the perfect way to round off the Christmas Lunch.

About our Sponsorship

As corporate sponsor of the Christmas Lunch, we were invited to attend the sponsor’s champagne reception that took place beforehand. We also had the opportunity to promote our range of IT, communications and telephony services to Club members and guests.

Air-IT Marketing Director, Paul Judge, comments:

‘We were delighted to sponsor a second event organised by Nottingham City Business Club after the success of the Golf Challenge Cup in September. It was a pleasure to be involved, once again, with one of the oldest and most respected business clubs in the country.

As always, the 2014 Christmas Lunch was a very well-organised event. Everyone from Air-IT had an excellent time, with John Sergeant’s fascinating speech standing out as the highlight of the day.’

Our fellow sponsors included John Pye Property, Actons Solicitors, Notts County Football Club and construction and management consultant, Turner & Townsend. We were also joined by Nottingham Business Expo, a new event which aims to demonstrate and celebrate the success of Nottingham’s thriving business community.

The Nottingham Business Expo

Air-IT will be exhibiting at the very first Nottingham Business Expo, which will take place on 26th February 2015 at the Nottingham Conference Centre.

Together with our communications division, MBC, we’ll be in a prime location in the business hub zone where we’ll be showcasing our range of IT, communications and connectivity services and demonstrating our award winning 3CX phone system.

We’ll be releasing more information about the Expo in the new year, so watch this space.
