Sue Dursley of Brooklyn Day Nursery with Air-IT Managing Director, Todd McQuilkin
The new CCTV system was installed at Brooklyn Day Nursery following the vandalism of one of the nursery’s woodland setting play areas this summer.
The Fairy House (pictured above) was targeted in the attack, and its handmade walls – made from recycled plastic bottles – were all but destroyed, along with other outdoor play equipment.
Air-IT’s Managing Director, Todd McQuilkin was keen to help after hearing about the damage which meant pre-school children were losing out on the full use of the nursery’s outdoor areas.
It’s a shame the kids had to miss out due to such terrible circumstances. The team at Brooklyn are second to none, so it was really hard not to help knowing Air-IT had the expertise in house.
We pride ourselves on helping companies meet their technology needs, and I knew we could help the nursery bridge a gap so I was thrilled to offer our assistance in their time of need.
We’re pleased to report that everything is now back to full strength, with thanks to the hard work of nursery staff and parent volunteers, who were all keen to help with the restorations.

With input from Todd and Air-IT, the area is now being monitored by the nursery’s own CCTV system, as well as other areas of the premises which are covered by additional cameras.

About Brooklyn Day Nursery
Brooklyn Day Nursery was established in 1958 by Eric Hall, father of current owner and manager, Sue Dursley.
The nursery has proved popular since its opening nearly 60 years ago and quickly became an integral part of Sutton in Ashfield and its surrounding communities. Such was their early success that a move to larger premises was soon needed.
The nursery has been based at their current home in Annesley ever since – in a charming stone built house dating back to the 1880’s, surrounded by fields and woodlands.

It’s this idyllic location that gives children the chance to develop their learning and understanding of the environment, which they’re encouraged to embrace as part of their structured, national curriculum foundation stage education.
Owner and Manager, Sue Dursley comments:
‘Brooklyns’ ethos continues to be all about outdoor learning so we require our rural setting to meet this need.
Without CCTV in place, we were left vulnerable to local trouble causers and vandals so now with new security in place we’re delighted and send our thanks to Todd and the team at Air-IT.
With their new CCTV system in place, Sue and her staff can be rest assured that their surveillance is safe in their own hands while helping to increase their overall monitoring and security.
We’d like to wish Sue and everyone at Brooklyn Day Nursery our very best for the future and hope they continue to enjoy the truly fantastic surroundings and excellent facilities for many more years to come.
