Air-IT has narrowly missed out on the Small Business of the Year Award at the Nottingham Post Business Awards 2014, which were held on the evening of Thursday 1st May.

Despite being pipped to the post for the second time – we were Runner Up in the same category two years ago – we’re immensely proud to have been selected as a finalist for this prestigious award.

Air-IT’s Managing Director, Todd McQuilkin says:

‘Of course it was disappointing not to win but considering the outstanding calibre of our fellow entrants and the high profile nature of the Business Awards as a whole, it was an honour just to be shortlisted as one of three finalists in our category.

Our achievement as Runner Up reflects the fantastic growth and success that Air-IT continues to enjoy, and of the dedication and hard work of our team.’

The Awards Ceremony and Gala Dinner

This year’s Awards Ceremony was held at the East Midlands Conference Centre in University Park. The evening saw many of the Nottingham business community’s best known names come together to enjoy a Gala Dinner and watch 13 category awards being presented, followed by the final award for 2014’s Nottinghamshire Company of the Year.

The finalists in each category all filmed a short video as part of the awards submission process and these were shown on the night. Small Business of the Year was the second to last award to be presented, so everyone at the Air-IT table was in a state of heightened anticipation by the time we viewed our video for the first time!

Small Business of the Year Award

The Small Business of the Year Award is open to companies employing no more than 75 people, who can demonstrate a clear track record of success over the last 12 months.

This year’s award was sponsored by New College Nottingham and presented by their Principal, Dawn Whitmore.

The accolade ultimately went to arts and crafts company Trimcraft – a family-run firm based in Lenton. Our fellow runners-up were App Institute, an online apps developer based in Nottingham city centre.

We’d like to congratulate App Institute, Trimcraft and our fellow finalists across all 13 categories on their amazing achievements. A special ‘congratulations’ goes to Hillarys Blinds who won the 2014 Nottinghamshire Company of the Year award.

Todd says:

‘The sheer quality of this year’s entrants to the Business Awards was exceptional. It was a fantastic and enjoyable evening spent with a selection of Nottingham’s top companies, all of whom are helping to boost the region’s economy whilst making a huge contribution to local communities at the same time.’

Everyone who attended the Nottingham Post Business Awards from Air-IT had a thoroughly enjoyable evening. And we’re already looking forward to next year’s event in the hope that it will be third time lucky.
