We’re delighted to be kit sponsor for two of Nottingham PSL team’s brightest stars – professional squash players Emma Beddoes and Eddie Charlton.
Emma Beddoes, Eddie Charlton & Paul Judge (Air-IT)
As anyone who’s familiar with Air-IT will know, we’re always keen to support local sports team and clubs, and squash is a game that’s especially close to our hearts.
With the start of the 2014/15 PSL season looming, we felt the time was right to give Emma and Eddie – who are both at crucial stages in their careers – a little extra support.
Emma Beddoes – Commonwealth Games Bronze Medallist
It was great to see squash getting some major recognition during the recent Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. And the event proved to be the icing on the cake of Emma Beddoes’ career to date, when she walked away with a bronze medal in the Women’s Doubles.
Emma and partner Alison Waters came back from a disappointing defeat in the semi-finals to secure the bronze in straight sets against the competition’s second favourites. The pair were cheered on to victory by ecstatic crowds and an avid TV audience, including many Air-IT staff who rooted for them all the way!
Back in Nottingham, affectionately known as ‘Beds’ to the home crowd, Emma is the Women’s Number 1 in the Air-IT Nottingham PSL team.
She’s been playing at their home venue, Nottingham Squash Rackets Club (NSRC), for 10 years and has 9 Women’s Squash Association (WSA) titles to her name.
Currently ranked number 20 in the WSA world rankings, she started playing squash at the tender age of 8 and turned professional in 2007, aged 21.
‘To come away from the Commonwealth Games with a medal was the pinnacle of my career so far.
Now the Games are over, my next goal is to break into the WSA top 10. I’ll be playing at competitions in Hong Kong, China and New York in the coming months – and proudly displaying the Air-IT logo on my kit at each tournament. I really appreciate Air-IT’s support, which will make a huge difference as I strive to improve my ranking.’
Eddie Charlton – Air-IT Nottingham Team Captain
Nottingham born and bred, local boy Eddie Charlton led Air-IT Nottingham to considerable success in the 2013/14 PSL season.
Eddie always proves very popular with the home crowd, especially when he’s called on to clinch vital matches that steer the whole team to victory at the end of the night!
Thanks to his excellent play last season, Eddie saw his Professional Squash Association (PSA) world ranking jump to a career high of 55, a figure he’s keen to improve on.
Like Emma, Eddie will be proudly sporting the Air-IT name on his kit as he takes on top players in PSA competitions in Hong Kong, Mexico and Canada as well as the World University Squash Championships in India, in a bid to boost his ranking.
‘I’m hoping to break into the world top 40 before long, I’m very grateful for the extra support Air-IT are giving me personally – it’s a big help.
And, of course, as a Nottingham lad, it’s fantastic to see a local company giving such amazing support to our PSL team as a whole. Their contribution really helped to turn our fortunes around last season, with sell-out crowds creating an electric atmosphere that spurred us on to play well.’

Gearing up for the 2014/15 Season at NSRC
The new PSL season kicks off on the 21st October and everyone at Air-IT is extremely excited to see if the team can better last year’s achievements.
Emma and Eddie are also looking forward to building on last season’s success and pushing for a play-off place – something they missed out on only narrowly last time round.
Managing Director, Todd McQuilkin says:
‘I’m very pleased that Air-IT will once again be lead sponsor of the Nottingham PSL team for the 2014/15 season. Last season was superb, with our staff and guests enjoying world-class squash coupled with high quality business networking.’
‘I’m especially delighted that we’re now also sponsoring Emma and Eddie in their endeavours to move up the world squash rankings, especially given Emma’s recent triumph at the Commonwealth Games. Everyone at Air-IT will be following their progress throughout the season and we wish them both every success.’
