We were pleased to sponsor the 2014 Nottingham City Business Club Golf Challenge Cup, held at our long-standing client, The Nottinghamshire Golf and Country Club during September.
The Air-IT Team
Air-IT / MBC sponsored Nearest the Pin on the 14th hole of the Championship course with all profits from the day going to the Nottingham branch of Parkinson’s UK.
A Fantastic Day at the Nottinghamshire
Our enthusiastic team consisted of Managing Director Todd McQuilkin, Sales Director Simon Leadley, Business Development Manager Paul Shelton and guest, Adam McQuilkin from Device Technologies.
Competing against 17 other teams – all fellow members or guests of Nottingham City Business Club – our team, despite playing well, were unable to repeat their success at June’s DNCC Nottinghamshire Golf Day and walked away empty-handed on this occasion.

The Nottingham City Business Club
Nottingham City Business Club (NCBC) was founded in 1924 and over the years, the Club has counted some of the city’s best-known and respected business leaders amongst its ranks.
Members meet monthly for networking lunches and to discuss issues affecting the business sector and wider community in the Nottingham area.
About the Golf Challenge Cup
The NCBC Golf Challenge Cup was established in 1929 and ran annually until 1982. Almost 30 years later, the competition was revived by then-President, Deborah Labbate, who found the Cup buried amongst a mountain of paperwork when the Club changed sponsors in 2011.
The Golf Day was then re-established as an annual event in the Club’s calendar and has gone from strength to strength ever since.
Prizes and Charity Raffle
After play had finished, all 18 teams descended on the Clubhouse for refreshments and a buffet, followed by presentation of prizes and a raffle.
Our Nearest the Pin winner was Paul Rodgers from the UHY Hacker Young team who was presented with a bottle of Jack Daniels and a set of Air-IT golf balls.

We also donated a prize for the raffle – a 4 ball at the Nottinghamshire – which was won by Tim Clarke, also from the UHY Hacker Young team.
It turned out to be UHY Hacker Young’s day as their team, led by Partner and NCBC Treasurer, James Simmonds, ended up winning the overall competition.
The Golf day managed to raise a total of over £1,200 in all for the Nottingham branch of Parkinson’s UK.

‘The Golf Day was very well-organised and we all had a thoroughly enjoyable time.
It’s a pleasure to be involved with the Nottingham City Business Club and to sponsor an event that supports such worthy local charity as Parkinson’s UK. We’re already looking forward to next year’s Golf Challenge Cup on 25th September 2015.’
