Getting to know our team – Peter, Daniel and Simon
In this article, we ask some of our most recently welcomed staff for their take on Air-IT, since joining the company earlier this year.
Peter Walklate, Account Manager

Joined the company in May 2016
What is your role at Air-IT?
In a nutshell, I work as part of our Client Services team, taking care of our clients’ IT and communications needs.
What do you enjoy most about your role?
Most of all, I enjoy meeting clients, getting to know their businesses and helping them to gain the most from their technology so they can drive their own business forward and deliver success.
What do you like most about working at Air-IT?
The fact that we offer IT and Communication services under one roof, as it really helps our clients get the most from their technology when the two work together.
What are your personal interests and passions?
I enjoy getting outdoors and taking part in sports such as clay pigeon shooting, mountain biking and horse riding. When opportunity allows, I also enjoy snowboarding and scuba diving!
I also like getting involved in charity events and I’m currently taking part in Movember!
Daniel Gates, Field Engineer

Joined the company in June 2016
What is your role at Air-IT?
As Field Engineer, I’m part of the service desk department although I’m primarily moving between client premises. My day might involve an installation, or resolving a more complex technical issue on site.
What do you enjoy most about your role?
I like the variety my role provides; no two days are ever the same and I’m constantly learning new things.
What do you like most about working at Air-IT?
There’s a lot I enjoy about working here, from the simple things such as flexible working hours, to the colleagues I work with, and the long term career and development prospects.
What are your personal interests and passions?
In my spare time, I like to build and race radio control models. I also enjoy restoring classic cars; I’m currently rebuilding a classic campervan and regularly help my grandfather maintain pre-war vehicles, which is really rewarding.
Simon Whyley, Remote Support Technician

Joined the company in June 2016
What is your role at Air-IT?
I’m a 3rd Line Remote Support Technician, which means that I’ll deal with the most complex technical issues within our service desk department. If I can’t resolve the support request remotely, then an onsite visit might be scheduled for an engineer, like Daniel.
What do you enjoy most about your role?
It’s satisfying when you’re able to find a resolution to a complex issue, although I really enjoy advising and helping colleagues to develop their own technical knowledge as well.
What do you like most about working at Air-IT?
The technical knowledge, experience and ability we have in-house is outstanding in comparison to my experience of other service desks, and we’ve a good team ethic too.
I also enjoy building new relationships with our clients and receiving their positive responses through our customer satisfaction surveys. We have a really high response rate and it’s always good to be recognised, especially from those with first-hand experience of our service.
What are your personal interests and passions?
Outside of work, I like to stay active by working out at the gym and swimming. I also enjoy playing pool and attending the social events we organise at work, like cinema trips and meals out as a team.
Interested in joining our team?
At Air-IT we’re always looking for talented people to join our award winning team, from technical to back office positions.
