Air-IT are proud to be headline sponsor of the East Midlands Chamber Cyber Security Conference and Expo 2017, which will be held at Nottingham’s The Village hotel on Thursday 6th July.
Since exhibiting at the first event in 2016, cyber security has come to the forefront as an increasing risk and concern for businesses.
As proud Patrons of the East Midlands Chamber, we’re pleased to be supporting this year’s instalment and to demonstrate our ongoing commitment to providing best-in-class in cyber security services.
Paul Judge, Marketing Director at Air-IT comments:
We’re delighted to be working with the East Midlands Chamber as headline sponsor at this year’s Cyber Security Conference and Expo. Highly regarded in the regional business calendar, the event helps bring together local businesses and leading experts in the field of cyber security.
Along with the forthcoming changes in data protection legislation, we’re aiming to give delegates a real insight into the ever-evolving threat landscape and growth in cyber-crime. With practical advice, we’ll help delegates understand the growing risks to their business and educate them about the steps they need to take to safeguard their systems and staff.
What to expect on the day
Whatever your level of cyber knowledge, delegates will benefit from a variety of practical and informative sessions to help arm themselves against cyber criminals.
Andy Watterson, Business Crime Manager at East Midlands Chamber said:
The threat of cyber-attack grows every day, corresponding exactly with the dependence on computers in most businesses.
But the threat is not just one of disruption, it’s also the damage that can be done to corporate reputation and the huge financial penalties companies will face from next year when the EU General Data Protection Regulations come into force.
Raising awareness of cyber threats plays a critical part in preventing them. Companies are used to considering compliance, legal, fire and flood risks but have still not grasped the cyber risk.
With a packed agenda, there will be a number of keynote presentations to rasie awareness and further understanding around these issues. Topics will include:
- Tackling Cyber crime
- Protecting the cloud
- Securing a mobile workforce
- Holding your business to ransom – the rise of ransomware (Air-IT)
- Support for cyber security
Drop-in workshops will also be available and will include:
- Cyber 101: the basics of security
- What is your cyber risk appetite?
- The changing face of data protection
The Air-IT exhibition stand
On the day, you can find the Air-IT stand in the Exhibition Hall where our knowledgeable staff will be happy to answer any queries you may have about your IT security and Cyber Essentials certification.
We’ll also be joined by industry-leading vendors from Mimecast and Datto – so please pop along to our stand to speak with our staff and guests about your email and network security, as well as backup and business continuity.
Air-IT – keynote speech
As well as exhibiting, Air-IT will be represented on stage by Chief Technology Officer, Sam Reed who will join the panel to deliver a comprehensive keynote speech on ransomware – one of the most common types of cyber-attack to affect businesses.
In the wake of the recent global ransomware attack and disruption at British Airways, it’s essential that businesses take cyber security and business continuity seriously. We’re keen to help delegates learn from these examples through our keynote speech, focusing especially on the WannaCry ransomware attack, which affected businesses worldwide including the NHS.
Please join us for this exclusive presentation in the Keynote Theatre at 1pm.
