On Saturday 5th May, 9 members of our team travelled to Milton Keynes to take part in the inaugural ‘MSP Showdown’ Gaming tournament which saw them go head to head with other managed service providers raising £738 for Macmillan Cancer Trust.
Air IT Service Desk Superhero Mascot, Tech Tom joins the cause
With gaming being at the forefront of technology and increasingly popular amongst our team, this was the perfect platform for our keen gamers to display their skills for a great cause! Featuring 5 games from the latest viral hit Fortnite to timeless classics such as Fifa and Mario Kart, our team mates battled it out in a triple threat tournament against Mirus-IT and Sweethaven Computers to determine the ultimate gaming champions!
Games thrashed out at the event
Being a well-seasoned gamer himself, CEO Todd McQuilkin welcomed the event with open arms. Reminiscing his early days of console gaming, he said:
Back when I started gaming, the idea of tournaments was limited to Street Fighter and high scores on games like Pacman and Space Invaders. To see how far gaming has come in terms of both popularity and production makes me excited for both this event and the future of the industry!
It’s not all fun and games
As much as this was a great event for all involved, we must not forget the primary reason it was taking place. Since 1911, Macmillan Cancer Support have been helping cancer patients and their families by providing treatment, education, advice and support. With as many as one in three people expected to develop cancer at some stage in their lives, the support Macmillan offers is truly priceless which is why we want to give back. We’re proud to say that the event raised £738.00 in sponsorship and it’s not too late to donate! you can still help us by making a small contribution to this incredibly worthwhile cause by visiting our JustGiving page below.
