We’re delighted to announce that Air IT has been crowned as the overall Business of the Year at the East Midlands Chamber’s Nottinghamshire Business Awards, which took place on the evening of Thursday 26th November 2020.
Nottinghamshire Business of the Year
Chosen from the winners of all 12 individual category awards, the Business of the Year title recognises the stand-out company who has clearly demonstrated all round excellence in business.
Having picked up the award for Outstanding Growth earlier on in the evening, we were thrilled to be named Business of the Year – the most sought after award at the annual event – which was presented and co-judged by headline sponsors, Mazars.
With the awards taking place virtually, we celebrated both wins with our pre-filmed “reaction” video, which all finalists were asked to prepare in advance of the ceremony. To see it in action, please see the short clip below. Alternatively, a full recording of the event can be viewed here.

James Healey, Chief Operating Officer at Air IT said:
To receive a Chamber award is a fantastic honour, so to bring back two trophies including Nottinghamshire Business of the Year is a major achievement, and something we’re incredibly proud of.
However, we couldn’t have achieved any of this without the continued support of our fantastic clients and staff through what can only be described as a challenging year, and which makes winning these awards even more significant.
On a personal note, I’d like to thank everyone involved, and for now, we’re very much looking forward to celebrating the awards in person as soon as we possibly can.

Alistair Wesson, Business Advisory Partner at headline sponsor Mazars said:
In a very strong race, Air IT came out ahead because of their investment in growth, in people, and technology, and for the progress they’re making within their marketplace. They’re very well-deserved winners.

Outstanding Growth Award
Judged by category sponsor RSM, we were delighted to win this award in an incredibly competitive category where Air IT was shortlisted as one of five worthy finalists.
The award was open to businesses of all sizes, with the overall winner recognised for exceptional and sustainable growth in sales, profit, market share, jobs or international trade.
Since our foundation in 2005, Air IT has enjoyed 20% year on year organic growth, and we’re proud to support a growing number of clients across the East Midlands, many of which are located within Nottinghamshire. As demand has increased, we have continued to invest in recruiting new talent and promoting people within, creating additional jobs for local people.
Last month, we announced further expansion plans, with London based Netstar and Birmingham based Microtrading becoming part of the Air IT Group. This is an exciting move for the company as our team doubles to 140 full time staff, enabling us to reach and serve clients in London and the West Midlands more effectively.
Once again, we were delighted to support the Nottinghamshire Business Awards as sponsors of the Business Improvement Through Technology award. This award commends businesses that have successfully integrated technology into their processes, enhancing their ability to meet customer needs and deliver business growth.
As a company that is so passionate about inspiring and enabling businesses to transform and succeed using technology, it was a pleasure to judge and present the award, with playground equipment specialist, Proludic pipping three other finalists to the post.
In their entry, Proludic showcased how technology has been used to drive efficiency throughout the business, enhancing their overall service quality and staff satisfaction. Proludic also demonstrated their resilience and agility throughout the pandemic, with secure and flexible systems in place to minimise impact and disruption on their operations.
A final thought from the Chamber
Scott Knowles, Chief Executive of the East Midlands Chamber adds:
There is so much to celebrate within our business community, which has really shone through during what has been a very challenging period for many. Throughout this time, there have been some incredible examples of real business success. We’ve been in awe at how many companies haven’t just stood still and clung on for their lives, but have continued to innovate and grow their way through the crisis.
We are in the middle of an economic recovery and these are just the kinds of businesses we should be highlighting when we’re shouting about everything the East Midlands has to offer. We know it’s a great place to do business and these are living proof.
