At Air-IT, we’re committed to investing in on-going training and development for our technicians – helping them develop new and existing skills so they can provide first class IT support services to our extensive and varied client base. And congratulations are in order for three members of our technical support team who’ve recently passed industry-recognised exams.
L to R – Air-IT Support Technicians David Mear, Ben Lee and Josh Turner
Ben Lee – Remote Support Technician
When Ben joined our technical support team in June 2012, he already held a variety of IT and Microsoft-based accreditations. Now, he’s just taken his first step to becoming a Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) by passing the Interconnecting Cisco Networking Devices Part 1 exam.
This exam tests the knowledge and skills required to successfully install, operate and troubleshoot a small branch office network. Topics include:
- Networking fundamentals
- Connecting to a Wide Area Network (WAN)
- Basic security and wireless concepts
- Routing and switching fundamentals
- Configuring networks.
Now that Ben has successfully passed Part 1 of the qualification, he’ll be turning his attention to gaining Part 2 – which focuses on small to medium sized networks – in the coming months. He’ll then achieve his goal of becoming a fully qualified CCNA. This means he’ll have the knowledge and skills to set up, maintain, secure and operate a medium sized network using Cisco technologies.

Air-IT is a which means Cisco recognises our expertise in designing and installing their industry-leading network solutions for small and medium sized companies. We also have access to an increased level of support from Cisco, including access to the best products and services at competitive prices, technical training and productivity tools.
Josh Turner – Remote Support Technician
Since joining the Air-IT, Josh has become an integral and valuable member of the help desk team. He’s currently working through the fast-track Microsoft Advanced IT Apprenticeship scheme, which involves passing a wide range of industry-recognised exams to become a Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP).
Josh’s latest achievement is to pass the Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA) Network+ exam, which he adds to the CompTIA A+ certification gained last year. Passing the Network+ exam shows that Josh has the necessary skills and knowledge to be a competent network technician. The exam covered a number of areas, including network design, hardware set-up, configuration, installation, troubleshooting, security and management.
This latest qualification has expanded Josh’s technical skill set and understanding of networking infrastructure, enabling him to successfully support clients if they should encounter any issues with their company network.
A double nominee in 2012 for ‘Apprentice of the Year’ awards from Microsoft and the Nottingham Post, Josh is looking forward to qualifying as a MCITP later in 2013. He’s now in the final months of the apprenticeship scheme and is studying to complete his remaining set of exams to become a fully qualified Microsoft Certified IT Professional.
David Mear – Technical Apprentice
David joined us at the end of 2012 and, like Josh, is currently completing the fast-track Microsoft Advanced IT Apprenticeship scheme.
And he’s got off to a flying start by passing both the essentials exam and practical assessment element of the Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA) A+ certification. This is an industry standard qualification that tests the skills and knowledge necessary for a career as an IT support technician. During the course, David studied areas such as installation, preventative maintenance, networking, security and troubleshooting.
Now that he’s successfully completed CompTIA A+, David will move on to his CompTIA Network+ certification before taking his final set of accreditation’s to become a MCITP later this year.
Well done Ben, Josh and David
We’d like to congratulate Ben, Josh and David on their exam passes so far and wish them every success with their forthcoming assessments.
